A seasoned facilitator and educator, Alex has delivered more than 50 talks, trainings, and keynotes on leadership, culture, and strategy. His doctoral research in Educational Leadership focused on empathy and global perspective as foundations for human-centered leadership. Alex served two stints on the Board of Directors for NIRSA, was the President of Oregon Disability Sports, and has served as faculty for NIRSA, AUCHO-I, and ACUI. His past clients have ranged from the University of Oregon to Purdue University-Indianapolis, to Kyushu Sangyo University.
Before launching The Pathline Group, Alex served as Executive Director of Recreation and Wellness at Stanford University, where he led strategic planning, revenue generation, HR, communications, assessment, and operations across a multi-site portfolio with over one million annual visits. Prior to Stanford, he was an Assistant Vice President at Portland State University, overseeing construction and operational integration of two major capital projects totaling over $124M. His leadership spanned campus recreation, university conference and event services, retail, food service, and auxiliary business operations. His other accomplishments have ranged from coaching a women's cross country team to the NCAA championships to helping manage a Third Eye Blind concert. He brings a large and varied toolkit to his work with clients.
